This past April marked a significant moment for APG as two major projects—the University of South Florida Football Stadium and the Tampa General Hospital Surgical, Neuroscience & Transplant Pavilion—both reached their topping out milestones on the same day. Achieving this on two complex builds simultaneously reflects the strength, coordination, and commitment of our teams across multiple disciplines.

At the USF Football Stadium project, the milestone marked completion of the structural work on the South Side Tower and slab on metal decks. Electrical crews were joined by Life Safety and VDC team members to recognize the achievement. Despite early challenges, including sinkhole-related setbacks, the team maintained steady progress. A key accomplishment during this phase was installing a large volume of conduit while staying aligned with the construction schedule.

The team is now completing slab-on-deck rough-in and preparing to begin overhead rough work. While the schedule remains tight, the long-term impact of the project is clear. The new on-campus stadium has been a long-standing vision and will enhance accessibility, increase student engagement, and strengthen the connection between the university and its community.

At Tampa General Hospital, the topping out milestone signaled completion of the primary structure for the 13-story, 565,000-square-foot pavilion. The event brought together our Electrical Construction, Telecommunications, Life Safety, VDC, Safety, and Prefab teams—highlighting the collaboration behind this effort. Reaching this stage reflects successful coordination of material deliveries, installation of long-lead equipment such as generators and substations, and maintaining productivity on an active healthcare campus.

With the structure complete, the project now transitions into interior buildout, including permanent power, temporary systems for air conditioning, and ongoing MEP work. Technology teams are actively installing network cabling and beginning device and backbone infrastructure. The project remains on track for completion in 2027 and will significantly expand Tampa General’s capabilities, adding 144 patient beds and advanced surgical space.

Reaching these milestones simultaneously underscores the scale of work APG continues to deliver and the expertise required to execute projects that shape the future of our community.
