PROJECT UPDATE: The Alanik Hotel

Nestled along the Clearwater Beach shoreline lies the Alanik Hotel. This brand new 15-story hotel will boast 248 rooms and will offer guests luxurious accommodations and breathtaking views of the Gulf. The multi-million-dollar location will feature a pool deck terrace, a nine-level parking garage, multiple restaurants, state-of-the-art gym, large ballrooms, and meeting rooms. Also planned is an exciting addition that will connect the Alanik to another one of Nichols Architects’ premier resorts, Opal Sands, via an elevated pedestrian bridge that spans across South Gulfview Boulevard.

The team has been working tirelessly to make this dream a reality. They’ve already achieved a major milestone, topping off the project on October 27. Since then they have successfully installed a majority of the electrical feeders, and plan to have power to the building this month. Up to this point, we have installed a total of 318,000 feet of raceways (including ENT/EMT) and 600,000 feet of wire. Our BIM Group has been instrumental in designing the routing of the electrical risers throughout the building, laying out the electrical rooms and vertical bus ducts. In addition, this is a unique project for the Technology Group — they are working with the general contractor and owner to provide a complete turnkey system. By completion, APG Technology will have installed over 300,000 feet of Cat-6 network and phone cable as well as over 6,000 feet of fiber optic backbone that will serve 18 IDF closets.

Due to the crowded beach location and limited size of the Alanik’s lot, storing and handling project materials has been challenging. Design changes have further complicated an already complex job, yet our commitment to safety and efficiency has been exemplary. Even with these unexpected challenges, our team has been able to stay on top of deadlines, with the project still set to be completed in late 2024.

Under the attentive direction of Senior Project Manager Anthony Ciquera and Superintendent Eric Beal, the team’s exceptional work quality is evident in every detail. We’d like to thank everyone who has been involved with this job: your hard work and dedication in overcoming these project hurdles should be commended. We also greatly appreciate and value our partnership with Moss & Associates and their Senior Project Manager, Tyler Harper, who has helped make this project a reality.

The community of Clearwater will forever be proud to feature the Alanik Hotel among the sought-after sunshine, clear Gulf waters, and vibrant atmosphere on Clearwater Beach.
