The Independent Electrical Contractors – Florida West Coast Chapter held its 35th Annual Apprenticeship Graduation and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 18th at Hillsborough Community College. APG was proud to have been so well represented among the instructors, the graduates, and the Apprenticeship Committee.

Many thanks to Terry Ryan and Dawn Johnson for serving on the Apprenticeship Committee, as well as to apprentice instructors Joe Bornick, John Fix, Chris Franks, Sean Hendry, Mike Millard, Matthew Morris, Vincent Palmitesto, and Ian Strydom who taught the up and coming electricians this past year. Mathew Morris was selected as the Instructor of the Year!

The evening began with the recognition of this year’s Honor Apprentices. Andrew Stock, Tyler Whidden, Jay Grafton III, Ramon Rios, James Skinner, Luis Gonzalez, and Ryan George were selected to represent their respective classes.

This year we were excited to have almost twice the number of graduates as we did last year. The graduating class included Tyler Byrne, Christopher Duncanson, Evan Ebanks, Duston Everett, Andrik Fernandez, Juan Garcia, Ryan George, Luis Gonzalez, Richard Harmeyer, Jr, Aaron Kirkpatrick, Anthony-Michael Martinez, Andrew McBride, James Parham III, Joshua Wright, and Jonathan Yacso. We congratulate them on their hard work and dedication and look forward to them beginning this new chapter of their careers.

Christopher Duncanson, Ryan George, Aaron Kirkpatrick, Andrew McBride, and Jonathan Yacso were honored for maintaining four years of perfect attendance—quite an accomplishment while working full-time and caring for other responsibilities. Finally, the much anticipated Wire-Off results were announced. Andrik Fernandez placed third while Aaron Kirkpatrick won first place and will be moving on to nationals. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
