APG POWERS UP! - Our New CEP is Complete!

Over the past year, APG has taken on a myriad of projects to build and better our community. As we start the new year, we are excited to announce that our own central energy plant (CEP) has been completed. This new energy plant will ensure better power stability and reliability by consolidating our previous power solution into a new, safely enclosed space under one system.

Breaking ground in March 2022, the team had a lot to accomplish to meet their end-of-year deadline. The process involved demolishing the existing asphalt and running underground conduit from the old 14 electrical meter locations to our new electrical meter center. A 335 square-foot extension to our office building was constructed from the ground up to house the new 2,000 Amp service. The scope of the project also included the relocation and reconnection of our current generator, and the introduction of five new electric vehicle charging stations.

The inevitable shutdowns, inspections and component delays presented considerable challenges. Despite all these difficulties, APG was able to complete the project before the new year. From design to switch over, this internal project has been a coordinated multi-year effort involving many hands. Leading the job was Project Manager Terry Ryan, Project Foreman Quentin Clark, and Electrical Engineer Yonet Lopez. We would like to thank Terry, Quentin, and Yonet for their eagerness and dedication to the job. And a special thank you to the Warehouse and Fleet Teams, Facility Maintenance Coordinator Tony Vanlier, and everyone that had a part in this. We appreciate all your efforts and the quality work ethic that empowered APG to do it right
