ADVENTHEALTH TAMPA P4 TOWER EXPANSION

10/1/2020

In March of last year, APG was awarded the AdventHealth Tampa P4 Tower Expansion project by Robins & Morton. The nearly $12 million contract covers electrical construction for a brand new, 300,000 square foot patient tower on the Tampa campus. This project is expected to be complete in September of 2021.

This six-story tower, with room for further vertical expansion in the future, will house the Taneja Center for Innovative Surgery, providing state-of-the-art complex surgical care at the corner of Fletcher Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in Tampa. AdventHealth Tampa cares for more than 17,000 patients a year who need advanced medical and surgical care. This new center will allow the hospital to expand its capacity for care with 24 new operating rooms large enough to accommodate robotic technologies, a new hospital entrance, and more than 100 private, post-surgical patient rooms. It will bring hundreds of new clinical jobs over the first five years, as well as many construction and support jobs while the tower is being built. This project will benefit the entire community economically and by improving access to high-quality care for patients.

A state-of-the-art, complex hospital tower like this needs a skilled electrical contractor to bring the building to life. Technology relies on electricity, and we will be bringing power to 40 pre/post-surgical patient rooms, 5 pediatric pre/post-surgical rooms, 28 recovery rooms, 18 operating rooms, 72 patient care units, 24 critical care units, a chapel, administration area, and sterile processing area, all spread over five floors. The sixth floor will provide shell space, allowing for future expansion as Tampa’s population continues to grow. The final beam was placed on top of the tower in May, marking the structural completion of the Taneja Center for Innovative Surgery. We still have a lot of work to accomplish, but we are grateful for the role we have played so far in the construction of this innovative facility.

All of us at APG were excited to earn this contract and we are honored that Robins & Morton again selected us to be their electrical contractor of choice. We are proud of the hard work of Senior Estimator George Lambert, Senior Project Manager Austin Buxton, Project Superintendent DJ Hall, and the entire team on site. Your skill and tireless effort ensure our continued success. Keep up the great work!
