38 Years Well Spent - Jim Hardy Retires from APG

11/1/2023

Our dear colleague, Jim Hardy, retired on Friday, September 29, after dedicating 38 years to APG. Jim started his journey with us as one of our first APG family members back in February 1985 as a licensed journeyman electrician. Within a few months, he was promoted to Project Foreman, and the following year to Project Superintendent.

His expertise was evident early on in his career. In 1998, he was chosen to work on the construction of Universal Studios Islands of Adventure — The Lost Continent, the largest contract in our company’s history at that time. That project served as the catalyst for our expansion into the Central Florida region and the basis for other successful high-profile projects on which Jim worked.

In 2014, Jim’s hard work led to his promotion to General Superintendent for our healthcare projects.

Managing multiple healthcare projects and teams at the same time is no easy feat, but Jim was always up to the task, ably directing personnel to accurately complete the job, on time.

BayCare, HCA, and Advent Health hospitals throughout the greater Tampa Bay region, Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital, Palm Gardens Nursing Home, and the USF Yuengling Center (Sun Dome) are just a few of the notable projects on which Jim served as the Superintendent. Even more notable was Jim’s serving as the Senior Project Superintendent on three greenfield hospitals: St. Joseph’s Hospital – North, St. Joseph’s Hospital – South, South Florida Baptist Relocation Hospital – Plant City.

Although we are saddened to see Jim leave, we are thrilled that he will finally have the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved retirement with his wife, Linda, and spend more time out on the boat. His presence on the job and in the office will be deeply missed.

Thank you, Jim, for everything you’ve contributed throughout the years. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

I am thankful that I was able to work with Jim in the Lakeland office for a bit. In the short time that we worked together, he taught me a lot about APG. I wish you nothing but the best, Jim, in your new title, "RETIRED."

Working with Jim felt like a Masterclass in how to be an Electrician. Jim's experience was invaluable! I wish him all the best!
–  Artie Hackett

I have had the pleasure to work with Jim throughout my APG career, and every single project has been an adventure.  I am so excited for the Hardy's to both join the NO CLOCK/NO PHONE/NO WORK club! Jim will be missed for sure, but his legacy will last through the many coworkers who remain. Thanks, Jim.
–  Julie Bennett

Jim was the first contractor that I met when I first moved to Florida. He almost single– handedly introduced me to the whole AHCA way of doing things and has been a phenomenal resource ever since. He has always been fun to work with.
–  Charles Alexander

I worked for Jim when I first started at APG. I realized quickly that Jim has a great love and knowledge of the trade, and something I noticed was Jim's willingness to share that knowledge. Not everyone in the trade is like that; it's a lost art these days. He was always excited to pass his knowledge and experience on to the next generation. He will be missed.
–  Sean Hendry

I know a couple little kids that have the best memories of Jim & Linda Hardy taking them to Universal Studios to celebrate building those roller coasters! So very proud of Jim. We know Billy's looking down on Jim and saying, job well down.
