After nearly four decades of dedicated service, APG proudly celebrates the retirement of Terry Ryan, whose career has left a lasting mark on our company, our people, and the projects that define our legacy.
Terry joined APG in September 1986, beginning his career in the field before moving into the office in January 1987 to learn electrical estimating directly alongside our founders. Starting as an apprentice estimator, Terry quickly demonstrated the work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence that would define his career. About a year and a half later, he earned his first business card and the title of Electrical Estimator—an early milestone in a journey marked by continuous growth. Over the years, Terry advanced to Senior Estimator, Chief Estimator, and later into Special Projects, where he played a key role in Design-Build and Design-Assist negotiated work.
Throughout his time in preconstruction, Terry embodied the persistence and pride required of estimating. He understood that every bid—awarded or not—deserved the same level of care and professionalism. His work provided leadership with reliable, thoughtful projections and contributed directly to the company’s long-term success. As APG grew, Terry’s estimating portfolio expanded to include many notable projects across education, healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and industrial sectors throughout Florida.
At the end of 2019, Terry transitioned into operations as a Project Manager, bringing his deep preconstruction knowledge into the field. He managed major projects, including the JW Marriott Clearwater Beach and the Opal Sol Hotel, and fittingly concludes his career working on the new USF Football Stadium—an impactful project that reflects the scale and significance of his contributions.
Beyond projects, Terry was deeply committed to the future of the trade. He dedicated decades to apprenticeship and training programs through both Associated Builders and Contractors and Independent Electrical Contractors, serving as Chairman and helping shape wire-off competitions that allowed apprentices to showcase their skills.
As Terry enters retirement, we thank him for his unwavering dedication, leadership, and integrity. APG is grateful for the legacy he leaves behind and wishes him the very best in this well-earned next chapter.
