Senior Registered Professional Engineer - Plumbing

General Responsibilities: Directs the technical activities on assigned projects and ensures that the
technical staff understands and adheres to the discipline technical policies and procedures; participates
in the development of technical studies, investigations and designs in support of assigned projects;
assists the project manager in the scoping, pricing and staffing of projects and in the production of
projects on time, within budget and of the highest technical quality.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists in the development of technical documentation, proposals and presentations to clients
  • Coordinates project designs with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
  • Coordinates with suppliers, contractors, clients and client representatives to determine project scope
  • Performs specific engineering studies, engineering calculations,  and other design analyses using industry software
  • Produces written specifications for project equipment and construction methods
  • Takes the lead in developing design approaches and concepts on assigned projects and requests assistance from the technical staff when needed
  • Coordinates with local authorities, utilities, and municipalities to ensure compliance with construction and government standards
  • Attends meetings with owners, clients or architects as needed
  • Assists the project manager in establishing budgets, cost estimates and project schedules
  • Communicates information from meetings to project staff
  • Assists the Principal in the execution of technical training programs for staff
  • Evaluates the work of technical staff and provides feedback and/or corrections based on client needs
  • Conducts project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals
  • Assists the Principal in the evaluation of staff members
  • Ensures that the company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projects for clients
  • Acts and performs activities inside and outside the organization consistent with ethical engineering standards in the employee handbook
  • As needed, assists the Principal with project assignments, scheduling and team manpower
    planning

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Registered Professional Engineer AND
  • B.S. Degree in engineering with ten or more years applicable experience in discipline design and analysis
 
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent use of a computer for several hours at a time
  • Periodically climb over and under barriers
  • Lift and/or carry plans weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • May need to walk up to one mile and climb a ladder at least 10 feet.

Work Environment:
  • Indoors in normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, darkness/poor lighting, fumes or dust
  • May travel to or navigate construction sites, some of which may be at high altitudes or small spaces with dirt or dust particles
  • Some overnight travel as needed

Reports to: Principal and/or Officer of APG
 
Supervises: Assigned Engineers, Designers, CAD Operators
 
Classification: Exempt, Salary Employee
 
The Senior Engineer understands that this criteria is a minimal list to satisfactorily perform the
essential functions of the role. The Registered Engineer bears in mind that from time to time he/she
may be asked to perform a reasonable, ethical, moral task not outlined in the role.  The task may be of
higher level position, lower level position or completely unrelated, in order to provide the best quality
services of APG divisions and display the highest level of integrity to our clients.
