Director of Organizational Development

General Responsibilities: The  Director  of  Organizational  Development  shall  be  a  well‐rounded
professional which will aid APG in obtaining new heights in internal and external customer satisfaction. 
This  individual  will  work  alongside  leadership  in  efforts  to  build,  implement  and  support  fluid
organizational practices and procedures that will enhance productivity and streamline processes.  The
DOD  will  facilitate  the  implementation  of  appropriate  management  initiatives  associated  with
organizational  transitions.   It  is  a  primary  responsibility  of  this  role  to  support  the  goals  of  APG,
specifically in meeting the day to day operational needs in Engineering, as a critical component in
accomplishing business goals.  This position will require an individual with a high level of vision and a
wide degree of creativity and latitude.  This position relies on experience and judgment to plan and
accomplish goals as well as performing a variety of tasks that include but are not limited to:
Essential Functions:
  • Assists project managers with monthly invoicing and interfaces with accounting and other departments for all engineering needs
  • Assists the Principal in preparation of month‐end and year‐end reporting of financial data
  • In general, tends to operational needs of engineering
  • Acts and performs marketing and business development activities inside and outside the organization consistent with ethical engineering standards in the employee handbook
  • As needed, assists the Principal with project assignments, scheduling and team manpower planning
  • Confer  with  appropriate  management  and  staff  to  gain  knowledge  of  work  situations, processes, regulations, business initiatives and technologies
  • Prepares  professionally  written  and/or  graphical  responses  to  RFP’s  and  RFQ’s  for engineering and/or construction projects related to our industry
  • Develop and implement organizational initiatives company wide, including preparation of all training materials and scheduling of staff to disseminate the initiative
  • Establish and implement approved policy and procedures
  • Spearhead process improvement/business optimization efforts
  • Assists management in maintaining orderly correspondence and technical document files.
  • Assists Principal and/or project managers with the correspondence and communications required to administer projects and serve clients
  • Performs other administrative duties and tasks assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A 4‐yr bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or marketing from an accredited university with
    at least seven years experience in organizational development and implementation of processes
    for a technical service company. A thorough knowledge of at least one word processing system
    utilized by the company and a demonstrated ability to learn other systems. Proven experience
    analyzing and interpreting complex data.  The ability to customize and deliver organizational
    needs assessment, diagnosis and deliver OD strategies to impact organizational productivity,
    cycle  time,  quality,  cost  and  other  important  business  imperatives.  A  person  that  is  well
    groomed, energetic and capable of working in a team environment. A person with seasoned
    supervisory skills, personable and willing to assume a wide range of responsibilities on an as
    needed basis.  A person who exemplifies and will personify APG leadership. 
 
Physical Demands:
  • Capable of moving and navigating all areas of the office
  • Able to lift 30 pounds
  • Work with people and operate various office equipment
  • Able to see, hear, and speak
  • Read, write, and understand English

Work Environment:
  • Indoors in normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, darkness/poor lighting, fumes or dust 
  • Some overnight travel as needed

Reports to: Principal
 
Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly Employee
 
The DOD understands that this criteria is a minimal list to satisfactorily perform the essential functions
of this position. The DOD bears in mind that from time to time he/she may be asked to perform a
reasonable, ethical, moral task not outlined in the role.  The task may be of higher level position, lower
level position or completely unrelated, in order to provide best quality services of APG divisions to
display the highest level of integrity to our clients.
 
The DOD also recognizes the importance to personify the Principal at all times to uphold the highest
level of integrity in pursuit of the APG vision statement, their clients and staff.  The DOD position is held
by that individual who demonstrates a great amount of range and flexibility in their duties to see that
the client is served and project deadlines are met.
