Automation Estimator & Project Manager

Essential Functions:
Estimating
  • Reviews bid plans and specifications and determine project requirements
  • Requests and reviews quotes from vendors and subcontractors
  • Develops cost estimates and produces well-written proposals
  • Communicates project requirements and estimate to Controls Engineer, Superintendent, and/or Project Manager

Project Management
  • Review contract documentation
  • Reviews and approves all submittal documentation
  • Selects and orders materials. Tracks material orders all the way to the job site
  • Produces required closeout documents.
  • Attends meetings with owners, clients or architects as needed
  • Conducts project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes
  • Evaluates the work of technical staff and provides feedback and/or corrections based on client needs
  • Track project costs, including generating forecasts and determining monthly billings

Other Duties:
  • Assists in the execution of technical training for less experienced staff members
  • Utilizes and assists less experienced staff in understanding company technical policies and procedures during the execution of projects for clients
  • Acts and performs activities inside and outside the organization consistent with ethical standards in the employee handbook
  • As needed, assists the Group Manager with project assignments, scheduling and team manpower planning
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
 General  Knowledge
  • HVAC principles, including air handling, chilled water, and hot water systems
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)
  • Construction plan and specification reading
  • Electrical/Mechanical construction processes
  • Controls theories and methodologies
  • Electrical/Mechanical code

  • Willingness to ask for assistance or clarification
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of related experience
 
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent use of a computer for several hours at a time
  • Periodically climb over and under barriers
  • Lift and/or carry materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • May need to walk up to one mile and climb a ladder at least 10 feet.

Work Environment:
  • Indoors in normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, darkness/poor lighting, fumes or dust
  • May travel to or navigate construction sites, some of which may be at high altitudes or small spaces with dirt or dust particles
  • Typical daily schedule is 7:00AM to 4:00PM
  • Some overnight travel for training and conferences (Less than 5%)
 
Classification: Exempt, Salary Employee
