EXCELLENCE IN FOCUS: APG Wins Top Honors At ABC Awards Gala

The Hilton Tampa Downtown Hotel was filled with industry leaders on May 2nd for the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Florida Gulf Coast Chapter’s 2025 Excellence in Construction Awards Gala. This prestigious program celebrates the finest work completed by ABC members over the past two years, recognizing projects that exemplify innovation, quality control, personnel management, and, above all, safety.

​This year, APG earned Honorable Mentions for four outstanding projects: the USF Judy Genshaft Honors College, Imagine Clearwater/The BayCare Sound, Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM), and AdventHealth Riverview Hospital. We were also honored to receive an Eagle Award—ABC’s highest recognition—for the BayCare South Florida Baptist Replacement Hospital project.

Spanning 514,000 square feet, the BayCare South Florida Baptist Replacement Hospital was one of our most complex and technically demanding undertakings to date. With a nearly $37 million contract value, our teams were responsible for delivering complete electrical construction, fire alarm, nurse call, and security systems, as well as BIM coordination services. One of the facility’s most critical infrastructure features was the Central Energy Plant, equipped with three 2,500kW diesel generators to maintain continuous power for vital medical operations.

Behind each of these awards is the collective effort of the APG team. From Estimating and BIM to safety, field operations, and every supporting group, our employees demonstrate excellence on every level. Our teams document progress through detailed photography that showcases the precision and craftsmanship brought to each job site, every day. These images and narratives are critical to award submissions, but more importantly, they reflect the pride we take in our work.

​The nomination process is comprehensive and competitive. Submissions are judged not only on final outcomes, but also on planning, collaboration, challenges overcome, and adherence to budget and schedule—all while maintaining the highest standards of safety. Our partners—general contractors, design teams, and owners—support our nominations by submitting letters of recommendation that speak to our performance and professionalism.
