Kevin DeWitt’s remarkable 40-year career at APG has been a story of growth, leadership, and lasting impact. From his early days as a technician to leading the Security team, Kevin’s journey reflects not only his personal achievements but also his dedication to the people and principles that define our company.

Starting out at APG just a year after the company was founded, Kevin was hired on the spot at the Churchwell Elementary School project in Lakeland. He quickly became an integral part of the team, earning his journeyman license and working alongside the Fire Alarm group. His career expanded further when he transitioned to the HVAC/Automation (now Security) group and attended specialized software training in Andover, Massachusetts. Over time, his leadership and expertise earned him the role of Security Group Manager, a milestone he considers one of his proudest achievements.

Reflecting on that transition, Kevin recalls a pivotal moment when the decision was made to set aside HVAC and automation to focus exclusively on Security work. Under his leadership, the Security group thrived, earning consistent profit margins and contributing to our reputation for excellence. He credits much of the group’s success to Jerry Lightner’s vision and the commitment of his field and office teams. “I want to thank my team for their hard work and dedication,” he shared. “It’s been an honor to be part of this experience.”

Kevin’s contributions extended far beyond projects and profits —he is most proud of the relationships he built over the years. “Working with the wonderful people here at APG has been the best experience of my life,” he reflects. When asked what he will miss most, his response was simple but heartfelt: “The people, people, people. You’ll be in my heart forever.”

Kevin, from everyone at APG, we sincerely thank you for your 40 years of commitment, leadership, and passion. Your impact on the team, the company, and our culture will be felt for many years to come.
Congratulations and best wishes for a happy, healthy retirement filled with all the things you love most!
