Our expertise in healthcare and more than 30 years of experience delivering quality, full-service electrical contracting services gave CPPI the confidence to partner with APG on this extremely complex and challenging project. After 26 months of hard work, it will be complete in March of 2017.
The project began with the complete renovation of the existing CEP. This was a very complicated phase as multiple contractors were working in the same confined space. Also, all work had to be carefully planned so that the hospital remained fully functional with absolutely no disruptions. We demolished the existing 750kW generator, replaced it with a new 1500kW generator, modified the other existing 1500kW generator for paralleling, and installed new 5000A paralleling switchgear. The feeders were tied in to the existing hospital and new essential feeders were added to feed the new ED and patient tower. These new feeders had to be installed on the existing roof because of the limited space within the CEP. We relied heavily on our in-house BIM (Building Information Modeling) specialists and they proved critical to our success in perfectly aligning every conduit for a seamless connection.
This project is another example of the benefits of using an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method. IPD emphasizes collaboration to reduce waste, optimize efficiency, allow creative solutions to complex problems, and deliver the greatest value to the owner. These types of projects allow us to contribute as much as possible to the construction team. From the design capabilities of our fully-staffed engineering group through to the installation and servicing of virtually every available electrical and technology system on the market today, we have the experience to do the job right.
All of us at APG are proud to have been selected to partner with CPPI as their electrical contractor of choice. We appreciate the hard work of Bruce Chabotte, John Fix, Terry Ryan, Noel Vester, and our entire team. Keep up the good work!
