As Wesley Chapel’s population and demand for quality healthcare services grew, Florida Hospital saw the need to expand their existing 200,000 square foot facility. After opening less than four years ago, consistent operation at near capacity has necessitated a $78 million expansion that will nearly double the number of patient and operating rooms available to the public.
APG teamed up with construction manager Robins & Morton to create over 110,000 square feet of new healthcare space and renovate 11,000 square feet of the existing building. Three entire floors are being built over the hospital’s center wing along with a new three-story connector wing. The expansion includes seventeen emergency rooms, sixty-two technologically advanced inpatient rooms, five surgical suites and related surgical services, a heart catheterization lab, recovery/observation rooms, and shell space to accommodate even greater future growth. Power for the new areas will be derived from a new Central Energy Plant consisting of four 600kW emergency generators, five automatic transfer switches, and normal/essential switchgear.
This is just one of many opportunities that APG has had to perform for Adventist Health System. APG has recently been involved in major projects at Florida Hospital Carrollwood, Florida Hospital Celebration Health, Florida Hospital Kissimmee, and Florida Hospital Tampa. We look forward to continuing our relationship with each Florida Hospital campus.
