This 125,000 square foot addition to St. Joseph's Women's Hospital is comprised of 64 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) beds, 24 private medical/surgery suites, and a new center for breast care, and was constructed just feet away from the existing NICU. The neonatal beds are located in private suites with support spaces for families and are specifically designed to encourage speedy recovery. APG was tasked with aiding the hospital to achieve a LEED certification with the use of complex and efficient control systems. In addition to the electrical system, the fire alarm and security systems were installed by APG technicians. The construction of this state-of-the-art design was greatly aided by the use of Building Information Modeling.
